Scholarships:

 

Mediacom Scholarship- Again this year, Mediacom is offering 55 $1,000 scholarships to senior high school students who live in the 21 states where Mediacom provides cable, internet, and telephone services. Apps are available at www.mediacomworldclass.com and are due

February 15th, 2019

 

Tuscola Women's Club GFWC Scholarships: The Illinois Federation of Women's Clubs will again be offering numerous scholarships. Students are eligible if pursuing a career in areas such as Art, Drama, Music, Vocational, or Conservation. In addition, scholarships are available for Native Amerian students and also students intending to to study abroad.  Applications are available in the Core and are due February 15th, 2019.

 

Joe and Sue Summerville Ag Scholarship: This $1,500 scholarship will be given to a senior in Douglas County who plans to pursue an ag related field of study. The scholarship is in memory of Lois and Myron Riddle of Tuscola. Applications are available in the Core and are due February 22nd, 2019.

 

Illinois AMVETS Service Scholarship: Any senior who is a child or grandchild of a veteran is eligible to apply for this scholarship. Applications are available online at http://www.ilamvets.org and are due March 1st, 2019.

 

Illinois Odd Fellow-Rebekah Scholarship- Any senior with a 2.0 GPA or better is invited to apply for this scholarship which is awarded based on financial need. Applications are available online at http://www.ioof-il.org and are due March 1st, 2019.  

Illinois Elks Association Scholarship: The Illinois Elks will be offering scholarships to seniors majoring in Physical or Occupational Therapy as well as scholarships to seniors going into Physical or Occupational Therapy Assistant programs. Applications are available at illinoiselksccc.org and are due March 8th, 2019.

 

Shelter Insurance Foundation Scholarship Program: Shelter Insurance will be providing a $2,000 scholarship to a graduating senior from Tuscola on the basis of scholastic achievement, participation and leadership in school and community activities, citizenship and moral character, and educational goals. Applications are available on Mr. Bozarth's webpage at http://tuscolaguidance.weebly.com/scholarships.html and are due back to Mr. Bozarth by

March 29th, 2019

 

Springfield Diocesan Council of Catholic Women: Four scholarships in the amount of $500 will be awarded to four outstanding Catholic Senior Girls. Applications are available in the core and are due March 30th, 2019.  

 

Illinois Science of Professional Engineers: The Champaign chapter is offering a $1,000 scholarship to seniors with a 3.0 GPA and minimum 1100 SAT. Students must be enrolled in an engineering program and must be from Champaign, Vermillion, Edgar, Douglas, Coles, or Ford County.  Applications are available in the Core and are due March 30th, 2019.  

 

TCHS Alumni Scholarship: This annual scholarship is for seniors graduating from Tuscola whose sibling, parent, or grandparent is also a graduate of TCHS. Applications are available in the Core and are due April 1st, 2019.

 

Georgine McDonald Trust Scholarship: This local scholarship is for Tuscola graduates who must have a 2.5 GPA and be entering the field of fine or liberal arts, medicine, law, or agriculture. Applications are available in the Core and are due April 19th, 2019.

Cletcher-Wessale Scholarship: This local scholarship is for Tuscola graduates who must be pursuing a college graduate school or medical school education in the area of medicine, including training as a physician, or within a related healthcare field. Applications are available in the Core and are due April 19th, 2019.

If you are planning on bringing a date that is not a current  TCHS student, there are date request forms in the office. They must be turned in by Tuesday,January 22nd to Mrs. Fowler.

 

Science Olympiad will meet on Tuesday, 1/22, at lunch in Mrs. Linker's room.  Bring your lunch and your creative ideas.

 

Order your 2018-19 yearbook on the district website or turn in payment of $40 to Mrs. Hoel.  You must pre-order to be guaranteed a yearbook.

 

Student Council is hosting a Winter Dance on January 26th from 7-10. Doors will open at 6:30. Tickets will be sold January 21-24 during lunch 1 for $3 or 2 for $5. All proceeds will go to Douglas County Mental Health.

 

All female sophomores, juniors and seniors were sent an email yesterday through Teacher Ease regarding Miss Tuscola.  There are applications in the HS office and there will be an informational meeting on Monday, January 21st at 7:30 at the community building. All questions should be directed to pageant directors Denise Groves or Emily Hallett.

 

Sophomores and Juniors: See Mr. Bozarth if interested in attending or learning more about the Rotary Youth Leadership Award camp on April 12-14th. There's no cost to attend and applications are due Monday, February 25th.

On TODAY  Cheer, Dance, Boys and Girls basketball, Scholastic Bowl, FFA, SADD, and Student Council will have their pictures taken after lunch.  Students should come dressed and ready for pictures after lunch.

FCCLA will have it's normal monthly meeting this TODAY at lunch in the FCS room.  It is strongly encouraged that all members attend as there will be important information given out about FCCLA Spring Conference and the State meeting.

 

If you plan to attend FCCLA Spring Conference, please let Dr. Franklin or one of your FCCLA Officer know as soon as possible.  Spring Conference is February 12 in Charleston.

 

Class officer pictures will be TODAY. Please check in with your first hour class and go to the green screen room. Please look nice, no ripped jeans.

 

SADD members -  remember to have your shirts for pictures tomorrow, Thursday.

Cheer, Dance, and Basketball team members - ask your coach about picture flyers if you have not received them by this evening.  If you are ordering online, you will need to fill out a picture form with your name on it (in all capital letters) and check the box that says that you are ordering online.
